Welcome from the Head of Pre-Primary Education
Hello and welcome to the Early Years Department of The
Junior and Senior School, located in the heart of Nicosia, Cyprus.
In our Early Years department, we provide a nurturing and stimulating environment for children aged 3 to 6. Our classes are designed to cater to the unique needs of our young learners:
Early Years 2 (ages 3-4): Two classes, each with 20 children.
Early Years 3 (ages 4-5): Three classes, each with 24 children.
Reception (ages 5-6): Four classes, each with 24 children.
Our dedicated team of passionate teachers and dynamic learning support assistants work to create a positive, joyful, and engaging learning environment. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and Development Matters, ensuring that our curriculum meets the highest standards. Additionally, we adhere to the minimum age requirements set by the Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth in Cyprus.
Our experienced Heads of Year are committed to providing excellent leadership and support:
- Mrs Helen Michael: Head of Year for Early Years 2 and Early Years 3
- Mrs Becky Parfitt: Head of Year for Reception
We are strong advocates of Positive Discipline, as outlined by Jane Nelsen, which helps us foster a respectful and supportive atmosphere for all our children. We believe that collaboration between home and school is key to the success of our children. Your involvement and partnership are essential in nurturing curious minds, confident communicators, and lifelong learners.
