Facilities

The Senior School premises are located on the outskirts of Nicosia in Latsia. The grounds are landscaped and extensive and the sports facilities ideal for the Physical Education part of the curriculum with tennis courts, basketball, volleyball and futsal courts, an athletics track, a large swimming pool, indoor gym and many other facilities.  

To enhance the number of classrooms, a new suite of eight classrooms was opened at the beginning of 2019.  As well as classrooms, the buildings house specialist rooms such as computer suites, laboratories, a drama studio, a dance studio, music rooms, squash courts and a library. 

There are also offices, a canteen and a nurse’s station to cater for the needs of the staff and students.

 

The Senior School Library: is located in the atrium of the main building. It is a newly created learning space currently equipped with around 4500 books. The library is open from 7:00 onwards during school days for students-Y7 to Y13 and teachers. KS3 - Y7-Y9 students also have their weekly DEAR- Drop Everything and Read Lessons. The space is a congenial learning environment, can be pre-booked for short discussion/interaction sessions by teachers and has access to books from different subjects. Students can find books on diverse genre like Fiction – teen, adventure, Horror, historical; Non-fiction – history, geography, health, business, art, science, and classics, and books in Greek & French as well. Each of the non-fiction sections are further categorized into sub-section Eg: History section includes World, Autobiographies, European, American etc. The fiction books are marked with initials of the author names and non-fiction ones are numbered according to the Dewey Decimal System.  

 

KS3 library: students are encouraged to choose fiction to develop vocabulary and understand different genres. Twice a month, the English lessons for each form group are dedicated to reading in the library. Both the librarian & the English teacher assist students during these lessons. The books can be borrowed for a period of one month after which they can renew it or get a new one. Book review is an essential part of the exercise.  

 

KS4 & KS5 library: groups also use the library as their study and research lessons. They can work on their laplets and laplets at multiple charging stations. Some of the smaller year group have literature lessons at the library. There is AV support available in the library for presentations and projection for exhibitions and meetings after school hours. We are in the process of upgrading the library in terms of expanding online resource. Online subscriptions option will be reviewed and included.  

 

The library also maintains a Second Handbook Area where donated books by ex-students are maintained. The books are in excellent condition and kept subject wise. Students can buy these at a minimal price.
