Year 1 Beach Clean

As part of the Year 1 topic about Ocean Habitats and Pollution, we were lucky enough to have the guidance of AKTI Project and Research Centre , who arranged for the children to carry out a beach clean of McKenzie Beach in Larnaca. It was such a valuable lesson for all about the dangers of pollution to our environment and especially to the ocean wildlife. The children managed to collect 23 kg of rubbish from the beach which was mostly plastic straws, bottles and cigarette ends!

We were so proud of the enthusiasm and determination of the children. A big thank you to Akti and especially Giannis and Avgi who took the time out of their day to organize the trip for us. It was a very memorable trip for all.
