  • A Fabulous Trip to the Ice Age Exhibition

    Published 29/02/24

The Year 1 children had a fabulous trip to the Ice Age exhibition last week. It linked wonderfully with our Science topic on Mammals and was a perfect introduction to a future topic on Pre-Historic Animals. The children were in awe of the lifelike models that moved and made very realistic noises! They learned all about what the world looked and felt like during the Ice Age, the creatures that lived then and Early Man. They were also able to read some very difficult dinosaur names!

In addition to this, we have had a fun practical week in Maths, learning about ‘Measure’. The children used so many creative non-standard units of measure to explore length and width. They drew around themselves and their teachers to see how tall they were and measured the length of the playground. Next week, they will begin to measure in centimetres and metres.

  • A Memorable Egypt Day

    Published 28/02/24

The Year 3s recently concluded their History Topic on Ancient Egypt with a memorable Egypt Day. The children took part in various activities which tested different skills. Firstly, the children turned into Egyptologist by using their code breaking skills to crack the hieroglyphic codes to solve the treasure hunt. Next, they became budding thespians by acting out the mummification process. Did you know that to turn a dead person into a mummy, they used a hook to take the brain out through the nose…yucky!

After that, the children became slaves by going into the school’s Forest School Area and attempting to build a pyramid using any resources they could find. Finally, the children turned their hands to pottery and made some pinch pots. Each activity tested different skills, such as teamwork, cooperation, good listening skills and creativity.

  • Greek Week at the Senior School

    Published 28/02/24

Greek week was a blast! We had a week full of exciting activities, and here's a recap:

Monday: We kicked off with a Kahoot spelling game

Tuesday: Used Greek book sales, riddles and tongue twisters

Wednesday: It was literature day with booklets featuring poems from great Greek poets

Thursday: We had engaging Greek language PowerPoint presentations in all classe

Lastly, we wrapped it up with a bake sale filled with delicious Greek sweets and another book sale.

Every break, we listened to Greek songs and even danced! But the best part doesn't end there! The proceeds of 300 euro from the bake sale will go towards "Generation for Change," supporting refugees in Cyprus, and proceeds from book sale will go towards buying books for Makarios Hospital. On the last day, we had activities with Year 7 students, where they enjoyed listening to the Cypriot fairy tale "The Triplets and the Dragon of the Apple Tree." Afterward, we had a delightful singing session in the Cypriot dialect. It was a wonderful experience!
