ARMY HISTORY VISIT

Recently, twenty-three Year 13 students were honoured to visit the National Struggle Museum in Nicosia, dedicated to the heroic Cypriot guerrilla fighters of the EOKA who fought against British colonial rule during the liberation struggle of 1955–1959.
Following this meaningful visit, the students proceeded to the Tymvos Makedonitissas, the military cemetery where officers and soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the 1974 Turkish invasion of Cyprus are laid to rest.
The site stands as a solemn symbol of courage, sacrifice, and national remembrance. The visit concluded with the laying of wreaths at the memorial, paying tribute to the fallen and expressing our deepest respect and gratitude for their selfless devotion to their country. Beyond its historical significance, the visit offered students a profound educational experience.
It provided them with the opportunity to deepen their understanding of Cyprus’ modern history, to reflect on the values of freedom, responsibility, and sacrifice, and to strengthen their sense of civic awareness and national identity. Such experiences play an essential role in shaping informed, respectful, and socially conscious young citizens.
