Let’s Visit Down Under with Year 2

Year 2 celebrated the end of their Geography topic on Australia with various fun activities. We started with an interesting speaker (a parent from our school) who grew up in Australia and was very kind to share his life experiences with the children.
All classes went to the Forest school to prepare for their Art project (nature bracelets) and in PE, the children were playing Australian games and got to throw boomerangs. On Topic Day, children came in dressed up and shared their Australian paraphernalia. They sang the National Australian Anthem, played quiz games, discussed and practised Australian phrases, made nature bracelets and drew koalas and kangaroos.
The highlight of the day was baking Anzac biscuits (a traditional Australian cookie). The children learnt many interesting facts about this amazing country and went home with their very own souvenir (a clay boomerang) and lots of great memories!
