  • Year 6 Italy Trip 2025 - An Unforgettable Experience!

    Published 16/06/25

It was buses and planes as we began our incredible journey!  The children were brilliant as we worked our way through Larnaca airport and Athens airport en route to Rome. Lots of excitement, of course, but for a very good reason!

Rome - Days 1 & 2 We visited the majestic Colosseum in the sunshine, where the children were in awe.  We finished our authentic Italian pizza  for lunch, then headed to the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel. We were treated to the majestic Vatican Museum and St Peter's Basilica. We just missed the King and Queen of England who were also visiting!

The children walked through Rome, across The Tiber and enjoyed the beauty of the Spanish Steps and the glorious Trevi fountains.

Naples - Days 3 & 4 After lunch we made our way to Naples for even more delights! This morning we visited Pompeii. Did you know the Pompeii ruins are spelt with double 'i' but modern day Pompei is spelt with just the one! Also, there are 45 fountains around the ruins which were labelled using various motifs. These were used as reference points. So the Romans would say 'Meet you at the 'Bull' or see you at the 'Ox'! Not too different from us nearly 2000 years later!

We then headed to Herculaneum which is closer to Vesuvius. The views across the Bay of Naples are stunning, reminding us of home. Once again the weather was just glorious. We commenced our walking tour of Naples.

A Trip to Remember The children have been so well behaved which has filled us with pride! Thank you Italy and JS Y6 - you've been amazing!
