  • A Memorable Egypt Day

    Published 28/02/24

The Year 3s recently concluded their History Topic on Ancient Egypt with a memorable Egypt Day. The children took part in various activities which tested different skills. Firstly, the children turned into Egyptologist by using their code breaking skills to crack the hieroglyphic codes to solve the treasure hunt. Next, they became budding thespians by acting out the mummification process. Did you know that to turn a dead person into a mummy, they used a hook to take the brain out through the nose…yucky!

After that, the children became slaves by going into the school’s Forest School Area and attempting to build a pyramid using any resources they could find. Finally, the children turned their hands to pottery and made some pinch pots. Each activity tested different skills, such as teamwork, cooperation, good listening skills and creativity.

On Friday February 9th the Year 2 children were very excited to celebrate Australia Topic Day. The children came in dressed in Australian colours and themed shirts, as well as bringing in special Australian souvenirs to share during Show and Tell. They spent the day playing Australian PE games like Gorri and Tarnambai, baking Anzac biscuits, as well as testing their knowledge on Australian facts. The highlight of the day was Mr. Michaelides (school parent) who kindly came and spoke to us about what it was like to grow up in Australia. The children listened with great interest about the education, activities and sports played in Australia, as well as about the animals that are native to this country. • Greek Week at the Senior School

    Published 28/02/24

Greek week was a blast! We had a week full of exciting activities, and here's a recap:

Monday: We kicked off with a Kahoot spelling game

Tuesday: Used Greek book sales, riddles and tongue twisters

Wednesday: It was literature day with booklets featuring poems from great Greek poets

Thursday: We had engaging Greek language PowerPoint presentations in all classe

Lastly, we wrapped it up with a bake sale filled with delicious Greek sweets and another book sale.

Every break, we listened to Greek songs and even danced! But the best part doesn't end there! The proceeds of 300 euro from the bake sale will go towards "Generation for Change," supporting refugees in Cyprus, and proceeds from book sale will go towards buying books for Makarios Hospital. On the last day, we had activities with Year 7 students, where they enjoyed listening to the Cypriot fairy tale "The Triplets and the Dragon of the Apple Tree." Afterward, we had a delightful singing session in the Cypriot dialect. It was a wonderful experience!

  • London Trip

    Published 28/02/24

The A level Drama students had an incredible time exploring the theatre scene in London. Over just three days, they participated in acting workshops with professional West End actors, toured the National Theatre and the Globe Theatre learning all about how things work behind the scenes, and saw four exciting productions: 'The Witches' and 'Kin' at the National Theatre, 'Ghosts' by Ibsen at the Sam Wanamaker Theatre (a historical theatre entirely lit by candles!), and the contemporary piece 'Leaves of Glass' at Park Theatre, which absolutely blew everyone away.

Time was also reserved for shopping trips in Oxford Street and Covent Garden, an optional visit to Tate Modern for our Art students, delicious dinners in Chinatown, Leicester Square and Southbank, an escape room activity at the incredible EscapeHunt venues, and a visit to one of the biggest bookshops in London to complete a series of theatre-based challenges.

The trip was greatly enjoyed by all, and the Y12's are already counting down the days until next year's trip!

  • Junior Achievement – MindReset

    Published 19/01/24

Year 6 were delighted to have showcased their ideas to reduce the use of plastic waste during the Junior Achievement MindREset competition held at The Metropolis Mall, Larnaca. Our teams developed a product through a series of guided lessons; they learnt about environmental challenges, how to find solutions, to design and produce a product and finally how to market it. The children stood before a panel of judges who listened to ideas, watched the presentations and quizzed them about the process and teamwork. We would like to sincerely thank the children and their parents for their time and support.
